University Center Foundation, Inc.

The University Center Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Program is funded by individual and corporate contributions and by interest earned on endowed funds. Many special endowments and scholarships have been established as part of the University Center Foundation Scholarship Program.

Scholarships are funded by the following sources:

  • Individual contributions
Many individuals from the surrounding communities have shown their support of higher education and the University Center through generous contributions to be used toward scholarships for people in this area who wish to pursue their educational goals at the University Learning Center.

  • Corporate contributions
Numerous businesses and industries have shown their commitment to economic development through supporting an educated citizenry. Such contributions have significantly impacted the funding available for scholarships through the University Center Foundation.

  • William P. O’Connor Endowment
Having served in the State Senate, Bill O’Connor’s influence reached far beyond the many significant impacts made within our local community. Bill’s involvement in the University Learning Center was very important to him. He would be very proud of the memorial established in his honor that seeks to help others by furthering their education.

  • Lloyd I. Jerry Evans Endowment
Jerry Evans was a successful business man, whose kindness and generosity to others was exemplary. He worked to finance his own Engineering degree, and has funded many other deserving students in achieving their educational goals, as well. He was proud to be a Board member of the University Learning Center, and would be especially honored that this scholarship is given in his memory.

  • Thomas Evans Scholarship
Pat and the late Jerry Evans established the Thomas Evans Scholarship in loving memory of their grandson, Thomas Evans. Thomas was the son of Debbie Evans and Bruce Evans of Ponca City. With this scholarship, others will be afforded the opportunity to better themselves by completing a college degree.

  • Pioneer Bank & Trust Scholarship
By initiating endowments through significant contributions, the Pioneer Bank & Trust Board of Directors has provided a financial base for the University Center Foundation that allows numerous scholarships to be awarded each semester so that citizens in this area are encouraged to pursue their college education. The Pioneer Bank & Trust Scholarship is awarded to a student who is working towards a degree program by attending the University Center.

  • Senator Don Nickles Scholarship
The U.S. Senator Don Nickles Scholarship Fund was established in honor of the outstanding service and leadership he demonstrated in representing Ponca City, our great state of Oklahoma, and our Nation. The Nickles Scholarship Fund will be used by the University Center Foundation, Inc. to award scholarships for students to attend the University Learning Center of Northern Oklahoma.

  • Carl and Carolyn Renfro Scholarship
Carl Renfro was instrumental in the establishment and funding of the University Center in 1999 and has continued to provide much encouragement and guidance as the University Center has grown. Carolyn is a founding member of the University Center Foundation, Inc. and has served on the Board of Trustees for a number of years. The leadership of both Carl and Carolyn as well as their generosity and belief in the University Center is greatly appreciated and there is no doubt that the Carl and Carolyn Renfro Scholarships will assist many, many University Center students in the achievement of their higher education goals.
